Aloha Council Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members,
I don't support Resolution 616-18,which would
cap the county's fuel tax at 15 cents a gallon going forward. The county
has a lot of roads in need of resurfacing. If this resolution passes,it
will restrict the ability of the county's highways division to maintain
these roads.
The costs of maintaining of these roadways have
to be paid somehow.I'd rather pay higher fuel taxes instead of paying
more to fix issues with my vehicle's tires,or suspension system. The
latter hidden cost would be minimized if the county's highways division
is able to continue their aggressive roadway resurfacing program.
I strongly believe the county council needs to give Mr. •
Neil Azevedo's paving crews all the support they need to continue their
much appreciated paving work.
Sincerely,
Aaron Stene
