To the members of the Hawaii County Council:
"<
I write you today to request that you do not put forth bill 108 as it is presently written. This bill will impact„ ,
the Puna district in only negative ways especial Pahoa Town. This community has just suffered the worst-D >rn
natural disaster in modern history with a volcano erupting in Leilani Estates. This would be the second
" time in fours years that Pahoa and its business owners have to recover from a disaster.

Pushing through this bill in order to benefit the large hotels in Kona will cause Pahoa and the rest of
Puna to go under. The vacation rental business in Puna employs hundreds of working class people who
with out these homes would be on social services. Your housing crisis would be ten times more of a
problem. Those that now have employment because they work on these vacation rentals will become
unemployed if you pass this bill. If you make it so tourist have to travel 4 hours round trip to come spend
time in Pahoa you can say good buy to all the businesses and residence in this town.
I hope that you can come to a fairdecision on this bill. I hope when you are considering your vote you will
consider all of the residence you will be causing hardship too if you pass bill 108.
Thank you for your time,
Deborah Kelly
