Aloha, council members:
When you deliberate on this legislation today, please consider the fact that Puna's
economy is currently CRIPPLED... we don't even have a hotel in Puna. To make it
more difficult for visitors to visit this area,with legislation of this sort, well, that's like
nailing the coffin shut... if you are looking for ways to stimulate our economy and
recover from natural disasters, this is definitely not the route you should be taking. I'm
sitting in traffic on the Panaewa stretch as I write this message to you, forced to
commute to Hilo to make a buck because I cannot earn an income in Puna'. Can you
please consider the fact that we have nothing being proposed by County of Hawai'i to
attract business, to attract tourism to Puna? Please. Please write some legislation. To
help stimulate the Puna economy. We currently have one actively working Puna
council member, so I'm looking to all of our council members to look out for Puna's
interests, along with your own districts. Please. I'm still here on the Panaewa stretch,
almost late for work, along with all these other people having to leave Puna and head
to Hilo to earn the daily bread. Please help us.
