No. 1098/Bill No. 200 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 9:43 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 200, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 200, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, via Communication No. 1098, dated September 24, <br /> 2018, amends Ordinance No. 04-110, which reclassified lands from Open (0) to Industrial- <br /> Commercial Mixed (MCX-20) and General Industrial (MG-1a) at Honokohau 1St and 2nd,North <br /> Kona, Hawai`i, covered by Tax Map Key: 7-4-008:013 and 030. (Applicant: West Hawai`i <br /> Business Park, LLC) (Area: 196.63 acres). <br /> Mayor Harry Kim forwarded the Leeward Planning Commission's favorable recommendation <br /> for this amendment to Condition K (Roadway Improvements). The amendment would increase <br /> the acreage of land that may be developed, from 10 acres to 48.4 acres, before the construction of <br /> Kamanu Street is required. <br /> President Riley Smith of Lanihau Properties, and Consultant William Moore were present to <br /> answer questions. Mr. Smith gave a brief overview of the project and the request to amend a <br /> condition. He added that there were many outreach meetings, and that they received widespread <br /> support for this amendment. <br /> Several council members spoke in support of this project.
