Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 726-18, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 726-18, transmitted by Council Member Maile David, via Communication
No. 1123 dated September 27, 2018, awards a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural
Resources Preservation Maintenance Stewardship Grant to Na Mamo 0 Kawa.
This resolution approves a grant of$62,658 to Na Mamo 0 Kawa, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization, to protect, preserve, and restore the Kawa properties (Tax Map Key: 9-5-016:006
& 025; and 9-5-017:005 & 007), pursuant to Section 10-16 of the Hawai`i County Charter.
James Akau, Executive Director of Na Mamo 0 Kawa, thanked the Council for their support.
Committee Chair Maile David and Council Member Dru Mamo Kanuha expressed support and
praise to Na Mamo 0 Kawa for the wonderful work they are doing on maintaining the properties
and educating the keiki on cultural stewardship.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 726-18,
and recommends its adoption.
