RESOLUTION NO. 7a0 IS
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF FUNDS OF A LATER
FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR FOR A
MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF ELECTROCARDIOGRAM (EKG)
DEFIBRILLATORS AND AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS
(AEDS) FOR THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease
or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal
year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii wishes to enter into a multi-year lease
agreement for six (6) years, for thirty-one (31) EKG Defibrillators, and fifty-three (53)
AED units for the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment will become the property of the Hawaii Fire
Department or be traded in upon completion of the terms of the lease; and,
WHEREAS, this equipment will replace the current units which are at, near or past
their end -of -life cycle as indicated by national medical equipment standards; and
WHEREAS, the National Fire Protection Association Standards recommends
replacement after seven years of useful life; now, therefore
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That the Mayor is hereby authorized to enter into a six (6) year lease
agreement for the indicated equipment for the Hawaii Fire Department
as described above.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of the agreement.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance
Department, and to the Hawaii Fire Department.
