Subject: Nonprofit County Grant In Aid FY 2018-2019
Grantee Request For Modification
On April 24, 2018, the County Council approved the Human Services Social Services (HSSS) Ad Hoc
Committee recommendations for FY 2018-2019 nonprofit awards. Of these awards, Hui Pono Holoholona
—Animal Balance Spay/Neuter Clinics was approved for a$6,500.00 grant.
Pursuant to Paragraph 7 of the County of Hawai`i Grant Agreement, it provides that any modification must
be made in writing, agreed upon by both parties, and must have approval of the Hawai`i County Council.
The HSSS Committee Chair received a written request from Hui Pono Holoholona(HPH) requesting
approval to modify the title of their program. The reason for modifying the program title is because Animal
Balance, a sponsor of HPH's Spay/Neuter Clinics, cancelled their 2018 clinics for Hawai`i Island due to loss
of funding. Therefore, HPH would like to delete"Animal Balance" in the name of their program and utilize
the grant to continue the Spay/Neuter Clinics in Hawai`i County noting that the $6,500.00 grant award was
earmarked specifically for spay/neuter feline clinics. HPH will continue to carry out the spay/neuter
program, except that the name of their program will change.
HPH Animal Balance Spay/Neuter Clinics submitted its written request for modification pursuant to
paragraph 7 of the County of Hawai`i Grant Agreement and is requesting the Council's approval to change
its program name from Animal Balance Spay/Neuter Clinics to "Spay/Neuter Clinics."
Please place this communication on the appropriate agenda for the November 19, 2018 Committee meetings
to allow the Council to consider approval of the request to modify the contract.
