WHEREAS, MGL'JIN MEDEIROS has been selected by the Hilo
Jaycees as their nominee for the Three Outstanding Young
Men of Hawaii Award for 1972; and
WHEREAS, tnree men in this State will be named for this
title at a banquet to be held in Honolulu on March 11, 1972;
and
WHEREAS, this award is reserved for truly outstanding
young men; and
WHEREAS, MELVIN MEDEIROS has displayed outstanding leader-
ship and service to the community and has demonstrated
unselfish qualities by contributing endless hours of his time
for the benefit and welfare of his community; and
WHEREAS, among the numerous achievements and contributions
by MELVIN MEDEIROS are the following:
1. Among his activities was service as the master
of ceremonies for the past three Miss Aloha Hawaii
pageants, both Miss Hawaii pageants, the Old Hawaii
on Horseback show, the Crippled children's benefit
program and the 32nior Citizen's picnic;
2. Among his past honors, he was awarded the
Distinguished Service Award for 1971 by the Hilo
Jaycees;
3. He was also awarded the Distinguished Service
Award for 1968 by the Hilo Kiwanis Club;
4. He also received the public Education Award
for the State of Hawaii from the American Cancer
Society;
5. His individual ability as a radio announcer
was recently recognized by his promotion to manager
of KPUA Radio Station; and
WHEREAS, the County Council of the County of Hawaii
wishes to express its congratulations and gratitude for the
outstanding performances rendered by the sincere dedication
to service by KELVIN MEDEIROS,
NOV, THEREFORE, HE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that MELVIN MEDEIROS, of Hilo, County of
Hawaii, the nominee of the Hilo Jaycees for one of the
Three Outstanding Young Men of Hawaii Award for 1472, be
and is hereby congratulated for his outstanding performance
of leadership and dedicated service to his community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and
is hereby instructed to render a true copy of this resolution
to 'dELVIN MEDEIROS.
