Resolution No. 470
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii is charged with the
duty to maintain the health, welfare and safety of the
people of the County; and
WHEREAS, adequate recreational facilities are recognized
as being essential to the health, welfare and safety of the
people of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Hawaii have
expressed their interest in the development of a drag
racing complex, complete with parking and spectator facilities;
and
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii, through its Department of
Land and Natural Resources, has title to and control over
the proposed site for the drag racing facility; and
WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Hawaii may, with
the prior approval of the Department of Land and Natural
Resources, set aside public lands to the County for a public
use,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that the Governor and the Department of
Land and Natural Resources be requested to convey by
Executive Order one hundred thirtv-five (135) acres in
Parcel 2 of Tax Map Key 2-1-13 for the proposed drag racing
complex to the County of Hawaii.
DE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk forward
copies of this resolution to the Governor of the State of
Hawaii and to the Department of Land and Natural Resources.
