Alil SUY.A courageously left tine comfort and security of her home in Niigata Ken, Japan, in 1899 to journey to the foreign soil of Hawaii to begin life anew; and WHEREAS, she labored arduously and constantly to overcome the barriers of new languages and customs; and WHEREAS, her excellence as a mother was shown by her acceptance of the challenge to raise an outstanding son despite the death of her husband more than 14 years agot and WHEREAS, as an outstanding and long-time member of Taishoji Sotc Mission, she ingrained in her son, Jack, the best teachings of her native customs and those of her new way of life; and WHER&AS, by instilling in her son, Jack, an admirable sense of duty, honesty and loyalty to his family, friends and failew- citizens, MRS. AKI SUWA was most successful in raising an outstanding son who has contributed immeasurably to making our society a better place in which to Live; NOW, THEREFORE, 8E IT RESOLVdD BY THE ODUNOIL OF THL COUNTY 08 HAWAII that its deepest sorrow and condolence be expressed to Representative Jack Suwa; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED tnat a copy of this resolution be transmitted to Representative Jack Suwa.
