Resolution
WHEREAS, at present there is no low -rent housing
project in the South Kohala District, County of Hawaii,
State of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, there presently is a great need for low -rent
housing units in the Kamuela area, especially with the
economic growth of the area and consequent increase in
population; and
WHEREAS, one of the housing goals for the County of
Hawaii is the maintenance of a housing supply which allows
a variety of choice to the residents of the County;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL
of the County of Hawaii that it does hereby respectfully
request the Hawaii Housing Authority to initiate such steps
as may be necessary in order that low -rent housing units
may be constructed or made available in Kamuela, County of
Hawaii, State of Hawaii; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this
resolution be transmitted to the Hawaii Housing Authority,
Hawaii County Planning Commission and the Department of
Housing and Urban Development, Honolulu office and San
Francisco office.
