To the Hawaii County Council,
Before presenting what I have to say I would like to share one of my favorite quotes:

While we are focusing on manipulating and reopening parts of Highway 132 and poking around with various minor
rights of way in Lower Puna,the ancient Hawaiian shoreline routes and Rail Road Avenue are being totally ignored.
Highway 130 is hopelessly inadequate to serve our present population,much less the coming population explosion.
Gridlock is on its way.We need to quit messing around with one lane traffic on Government Beach Road.We need to
recognize that Rail Road Avenue,which already has rights of way,extending all the way from Lower Puna right into
the edge of Hilo, should be significantly widened and improved in its entirety.Actually, Hawaii County should use its
power of eminent domain to widen the rights of way along both of these two vital routes.
Additionally,we should insist that the geothermal plant stays right where it belongs,that is, shut down. Prototypically,
geothermal plants in many other parts of the world maintain a 20 mile buffer between plant operations and land
habitation. It is a violation of human rights to place a totally dangerous, absurd, unneeded and locally unwanted
geothermal plant operation in the midst of an existing and established population.
