HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 581 Draft 01 1969-1972County of Hawaii—State of Hawaii Resolution No. 5$:1 WHEREAS, the State Board of Land and Natural Resources has been requested to grant a conservation district use permit to open a restaurant in the "Ti House" in Waipio Valley; and WHEREAS, the State Land Use designation for the area is conservation and County zoning is open; and WHEREAS, the Hamakua Development Council is working on a master plan for the development of the Waipio area; and WHEREAS, the natural beauty of Waipio Valley with its lush tropical forests and flora is one of the most attractive areas on the island of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, the General Plan of the County of Hawaii for the area is to promote the present designation of the area as a natural and wilderness area; and WHEREAS, commercial development of the area would be contrary to the policies of the general plan of the County. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it respectfully requests the Board of Land and Natural Resources to defer action on the application for a conservation district use permit for the Waipio Valley area until the master plan for the development of the Waipio area is completed. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted to the Honorable John A. Burns, Governor of the State of Hawaii, and to the State Board of Land and Natural Resources. Dated at Hilo, Hawaii, this 9th day of November, 1972.
