Please change Bill 108 so we can come to Hawaii and visit your wonderful Island.
My friends and I have been looking forward to coming to the Big Island of Hawaii. I
have learned that our plans may be in vain due to the proposed Bill 108. We want to
stay in nontraditional, non-tourist centered vacation rentals on Hawaii Island. We want
privacy and peacefulness rather than the intensity of cities and tourist areas. This bill
would not allow us to do so as part of its intent is to eliminate those options for
visitors.
We want to support vacation rentals that are owned by people who live in the area
• and have a vested interest in the well being of the area.
If tax compliance is part of your concern in this legislation, please simply require
everyone to show proof of tax payments rather than exclude existing rentals.
We want to come to your beautiful Island but don't want our options eliminated by
your actions.
