Council Update to the Environmental Assessment for the Siting of the East Hawaii Organics Facility November 1912018 Department of Environmental Management Solid Waste Division Environmental Assessment for the East Hawaii Organics Facility • The Department of Environmental Management ( DEM ) Solid Waste Division (SWD) is currently conducting an Environmental Assessment ( EA) for the preferred East Hawaii Organics Facility ( EHOF) site • SWD hired a consultant (SSFM International ) to assist with the EA process Environmental Assessment for the East Hawaii Organics Facility • Three sites were evaluated in the Puna District as possible locations for the EHOF. This evaluation was performed by a consultant (AECOM ) .
