Resolution No. 3-1.1
WHEREAS there is an urgent and immediate need for a
technical study to determine the current and short-range (five
years) public transit requirements of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, under the provisions of the United States Mass
Transit Act of 19641, as amended,, the Department of Transportation
of the United States is authorized to provide financial assis-
tance to local public bodies for undertaking- and carrying out
technical studies of their mass transit requirements; and
WHEREAS., it is the intent of this County Council that the
County of Hawaii be an applicant for such federal assistance for
said technical studies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII:
1. That there exists a need for technical studies of mass
transit requirements for the County of Hawaii;
2. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and directed to
execute an application to the Department of Transportation for
a grant for technical studies for mass transit requirements for
the County of Hawaii; and
3. That the Mayor is further authorized to perform other
duties necessary and proper for the implementation of the above
application, including but not limited to the providing -of addi-
tional information and documents as may be required by the Depart-
ment of Transportation,, the execution of such contracts as are
required by said Department, acting as the authorized correspon-
dent of the County of Hawaii, and allocating of the balance of
such costs in services, as may be necessary, such amount being,
presently estimated at $17.,,33.00-.
