RESOLUTION HC.
WHEREAS, ROBERT S, SHI JI, has been selected
by the Hamakua Junior Chamber of Commerce as its
recipient of the Distinguished Service Award; and
WHEREAS, the Distinguished Service Award is
presented annually to an outstanding young man of
the community for leadership and service during the
calendar year; and
WHEREAS, ROBERT S, SHIOJi, has displayed out,,
standing leadership and service for the community and
has contributed tremendous hours of his time for the
benefit of his community; and
WHEREAS, among the many contributions by
ROBERT So SHIOJI are the following:
1. He has served with dedication as President of
the Hamakua Jaycees to make it one of the outstanding.
chapters in the State.
He has served as Secretary, Vice President and
President of Brantley Center, Inc., a workshop for the
mentally retarded and physically handicapped persons.
3. He has worked diligently as Chairman of the
P.T *A . Legislative Committee and Development Council.
He has served well as Chairman of the Legislative
Lobbying for the Education Committee of the Hamakua Council,
. He has organized and served as the first President
of the Hamakua Cans Growers Cooperative.
. He has served as a Director of DIVACO Agriculture
Cooperative .
7. He was instrumental in political cam ins of
several. successful candidates including candidates for
the Count Council. Constitutional. Convention and the
State Legislature,
He has organized and has been instrumental in
bringing the next Western Fleet n ; of the National Association
of County Governments to Hilo,
. He is past Vice*»Presi.dent of the Hamakua Hawaiian
Civic Club.
ltd . He has led the Hamakua Jaycees to the 1970
Convention to receive the first Gold Chip Award in the
State of Hawaii, such award being the result of the Jaycees
having received outstanding Blue Chip Awards for five
consecutive years.
11.. He has done a tremendous job as Deputy County
Clerk for the County of Hawaii., particularly serving with
distinction in conducting the difficult task of carrying
out the 1970 election on this island and
WHEREAS, the County Council., County of Hawaii, wishes
to express its congratulations and gratitude for the out-
standing performance rendered by the selfless dedication to
service by ROBERT S . SHIOJI
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that ROBERT S. SHIOJI, Deputy County Clerk,
this year's recipient of the Distinguished Service Award,
be and is hereby congratulated for his outstanding performov
ance of leadership and service to his community; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED LVED that the County Clerk be and
is hereby instructed to render a true copy of this Resolution
to ROBERT S. SHIDJI .
