WHEREAS, the State Executive Board of the United
Public Workers will be honoring past presidents of the
UPW this month; and
WHEREAS, HERBERT GONSALVES has served as president
of the United Public Workers in 1957, 1969 and 1970; and
WHEREAS, HERBERT GONSALVES is one of the respected members
of the union who has contributed a tremendous amount of public
service; and
WHEREAS, MR. GONSALVES is continuing to meet new challenges
in that he will now act as local liaison man for the AFSCKE; and
WHEREAS, we wish him well in his new endeavors as staff Aide
to the AFS C KE ;
iVOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that it congratulate MR. HERBERT GONSALVES for his outstanding
service to the United Public Workers as past president of the UPW; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and he is hereby
directed to forward a copy of this resolution to MR. HERBERT GONSALVES.
