RESOLUTION NO*
WHEREAS, in the annals of Big Island history, very
few people have been recognized for extraordinary heroism;
and
W-HEREASt ERNEST KALANI, JR., a resident of Kau, singleam
handedly rescued Mrs. Emma Brook, a fellow Big Islander, from
certain death by pulling her out of her submerged car; and
WHEREAS, ERNEST KALANI, JR. rendered the necessary first
aid which revived Mrs. Brook from her unconscious state; and
WHEREAS, ERNEST KALANI, JR, has demonstrated his ability
to make instantaneous decisions and to take imediate action
during the crises; and
WHEREAS, ERNEST KALANI, JR. has demonstrated the presence
of mind to remain calm throughout the crises and to perform
effectively the lifesaving first aid skills necessary; and
WHEREAS, since the recent publication of the heroic story,
ERNEST KALANI, JR. has become'a person to be admired and respected
by all.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the
County of Hawaii that it commend ERNEST KALANI, JR. for his
magnificent display of humanitarianism and courage during his
lifesaving act; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a true copy of this Resolution
be transmitted to ERNEST KALANI, JR,
