Hawai'i County Council Members,
I would like to thank you for all of the hard work on Bill 108! The Big Island like the rest of
the world has faced enormous challenges to zoning with the popularity on STR home
rentals.
As Realtors we have seen successful STR's for a very long time, with the condos on Alii
Drive co-existing in the community and being governed by condo associations.
But it is obvious when you listen to the many testifiers that this is not the case in residential
communities across the BigIsland and manyresidents are beingdenied the right to

peaceful enjoyment in their own home by STR's that are not being properly managed.
I know this has been a Ion and hardprocess asyou listened to thepublic and weighed all

the needs of the community. I thank you for your hard work and I hope that Bill 108 gets
passed so we can begin the work of providing structure to where and how STR's will
continue to operate and not disturb their neighbors as well as establish clearly zoning uses
going forward.
