Dear Council Members,
Consider the following in the best interest of the Island of Hawaii. Both hotels AND private
hosting are beneficial - and Private home perhaps even more economically for our island.

1) Home Hosts employ locals to fix and clean. Flexible family friendly schedules often more — "='•
than minimum wage.
2) hosts recommend local business like restaurants and shops to spend $ -Not$35 breakfast 5
with all the profit sucked into Marriott corporate or Hilton.

3) Local hosts income is kept onHawaii Island - not exported to mainland/overseas.
4) Increased capacity for tourists island wide and particularly important for east Hawaii.
5) People own their homes and as long as they comply with taxes offer the same or more
contribution to local government and business economy.
6)tourist wou want private homes -will go elsewhere to places that offer both.
Please take into account our economy on Hawaii Island and not the hotel lobby or a isolated
examples.
