Resolution leo. 422
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 562, adopted on July 6, 1966
by the Board of Supervisors, County of Hawaii, approving
Apoki Street as the official name for a subdivision road
located in Punahoa lst and 2nd, South Hilo, Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, initial naming of said subdivision road on
the subdivision plans was "Apoke"; and
WHEREAS, upon installation of the street sign, the
name "Apoke" was misspelled with an "i"; and
WHEREAS, it is the intention of the County Council
that all streets with Hawaiian names have a meaning; and
and
WHEREAS, the street name "Apoki" has no meaning;
WHEREAS, the street name "Apoke" means "a short piece"
in Hawaiian; and
WHEREAS, upon review, the County Council desires to
change the name of said street from "Apoki" to "Apoke" to
conform to its original designation and meaning;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL of the
County of Hawaii that the name Apoki Street appearing in

Resolution No. 562, adopted on July 6, 1966, is hereby
deleted and in lieu thereof the name Apoke Street is
inserted therein.
