SUBJECT: Request for a discussion on Hawaii County lava recovery.
Please accept this memorandum as a request for a presentation from the Mayor,the Managing Director,or
other designee regarding the specific utilization of funds received from the Governor of the State of
Hawaii for lava emergency response,as well as a status update on the request for funds from the Hawai`i
State Legislature towards Puna recovery and rebuild.
We request this item be placed on the Governmental Relations and Economic Development Committee
agenda for January 8,2019,no earlier than 10 a.m. in order to accommodate the Mayor's schedule. We
would appreciate a presentation of approximately 20 minutes in duration followed by 40 minutes of
question and answer.
