A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2019 WAIMEA CHERRY
BLOSSOM HERITAGE FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, hanami (means "flower viewing"), also known as the cherry blossom
festival, is a Japanese tradition over a thousand years old that celebrates the season's first
blooms; and
WHEREAS, the annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival is a trademark
festival for the community of Waimea, with multi -cultural performing arts, hands-on bonsai and
origami demonstrations, and various food and craft booths throughout the day; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation, Culture and Education Division,
continues to host the largely attended, annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival and
will incur expenses in the production of this year's souvenir booklet that will be distributed
throughout the festival on February 2, 2019; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation is requesting funds for expenses
associated with the production of this year's souvenir booklet; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation for expenses associated with the production of the 2019 Waimea Cherry
Blossom Heritage Festival souvenir booklet.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
