Dear Chairman Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate retired Judge Ronald Ibarra of Council District 8 to the
Liquor Commission.
Judge Ibarra was appointed Circuit Court Judge in the State of Hawai'i in 1989 and later
became the Third Circuit's Administrative Judge and Chief Judge until his retirement in
2017. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Ibarra worked with the County of
Hawai'i as its Corporation Counsel, Managing Director, and at the Prosecutor's Office
where he became the first deputy prosecutor to staff the Kona office.
Judge Ibarra'holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from Georgetown Law Center and a Juris
Doctor from Santa Clara University School of Law where he graduated with honors.
Judge Ibarra states he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he will serve
a 5 year term to end 12/31/2023.
