Dear Chairman Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Jude Mattos Council District 1 to the Police Commission.
Mr. Mattos is a lifelong resident of the Big Island who cares deeply about his
community.
He is a former Liquor Commissioner and served as President of the Honomu Village
Association for 10 years. He was instrumental in getting the Honomu community
playground, the neighborhood watch, renovation of the Honomu gym, and assisted with
displaced Hamakua'plantation workers when the Hamakua sugar mill closed.
Mr. Mattos states he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a
5 year term to end 12/31/2023.
