Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:

It is my pleasure to nominate Arthur K. Taniguchi to the Liquor Control Adjudication
Board.
Mr. Taniguchi retired in 2018 as the Regional Manager at Bank of Hawai'i and holds a
business associate degree from the University of Virginia.
As a very active member of the community, Mr. Taniguchi concluded a term as
chairperson of the County Liquor Commission in December. He is also past president of
the Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce and the Japanese Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Taniguchi indicates that he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he
will serve a term that expires December 31, 2023.
