I SR. is being honored by
KHEREAS . GEORGE LOPES . 0
his friends and co-workers of the Hakalau Volunteer Fire
Fighters, Unit 5, for his past untiring and dedicated
service and leadership to this unit; and
WHEEREAS, GEORGE LOPES, SR., having served 11 years
as the fire chief of this volunteer public protection
agency is alone meritorious of commendation; and
IIHEREAS, members of the community would also like to
honor him for his past noteworthy activities as former
president of both the Hakalau Young Farmers Association
and the Hakalau, Athletic Association; Committeeman for
the Boy Scouts of America; member of the Banyan Lions
Club; the Hakalau Recreational Council; and a police
reserve officer; and
WHEREAS, all of his community services reflect well
the personality, character and generosity of GEORGE
LOPES, SR., a man who has given more than his "fair share"
to his community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII in recognition of GEORGE LOPES, SR. for
his outstanding achievement in community participation
and service, that it does hereby publicly commend him and
wish him continued success and glory; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to forward true copies of
this resolution to GEORGE LOPES, SR. and to the Hakalau
Volunteer Fire Fighters Association.
