WHE S , recent national events have indicated a
pressing need to place persons in positions of public
responsibility who will strive to do what is best for the
good of society and yet have reverence for the dignity of
the individual and the rule of law; and
WHEREAS, the continued existence of a free and democratic
society depends upon recognition of the concept that justice
is based upon the rule of law grounded in respect for the dignity
of the individual and his capacity through reason for enlightened
self-government; and
REF.F.AS, the actions and deeds of the ITON FABLE SHUNICHI KIMURA
as an elected public official reflect and embody a willingness
and ability to unselfishly serve the entire body politic with
justice, honor, fairness and uncompromising integrity; and
WHEREAS, the nomination of the HONORABLE MAYOR SHUNICHI XTMURA
as 'third Circuit Court Judge is evidence of the confidence and
belief of the leaders of the State of Fawafi that the
TIONORABL8 MAYOR SHUNICHI KI UR.A possesses the necessary dualities
and characteristics to be an outstanding credit to the judicial
system of the State of Hawaii,
Cts, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T11r COMICIL OF TPL COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it extends to the HONORABLE MAYOR SHUNICHI KI URA
its warmest congratulations for being nominated as Fudge for
the Third Circuit Court, State of Hawaii,
BIB IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of
this resolution to the HONORABLE MAYOR SHUNICHI KIM RA.
