WHEREAS, JOEY FSTRELLA was born and raised on the
Big Island and is well -remembered as an all-star in both
baseball and basketball at St. Joseph High f3cbool- ane
W11FREAS, JOEY ESTRELLA is the co -captain of the
University of Hawaii baseball team; and
VFFREASf JOEY ESTRELLA was awarded the first Jack Bonham
Mer orial Award which honors the ideals of "athletic excellence,
academic achievement, public service, leadership and character"
at the Rainbows' annual spring sports banquet; and
WHEREAS, JOEY ESTRELLA's baseball coach lauded him in
these alowing words: "Joey's honeqty,. integrity and
trustworthiness are beyond reproach. He is a coach's dream,- '
and
WHEREAS, JOEY ESTF-ELLA has paralleled his superb achievement
in the athletic world with his equally noteworthy brilliance in
the academic world by being selected one of the top students
in his class last year and being awarded a trip to the wainland,
and
WHEREAS, JOEY ESTRrLLA has exhibited not only a mind and
body of superior ability but a magnificent heart, the crown of
his character, by generously devoting much of his free time to
