WHEREAS, the Miss Hawaii Filipina Pageant selects
the fairest beauty from one of Hawaii's many colorful
racial groins; and
WHEREAS, among seven contestants who competed in
categories of congeniality, popularity, talent, and swimsuit,
one petite lass stood out above the rest; and
WHEREAS, after much thoughtful deliberation, om the
evening of May 4, 1974, MSS PEARLA DEL K]kR, daughter of
Mr. & Mrs. Jesus Del Mar of Papaikou, was accorded this
coveted title; and
WHEREAS, KISS PEARLA DEL MAR, dark --eyed maiden
attends Hilo High School as a senior and enjoys dancing
and record collecting for hobbies; and
WHERE -AS, MISS PEARLA DEL FAR's emergence as Queen of
the Filipinas, further strengthens the ethnic awareness
and identity as one of Hawaii's most important cultures,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that this body extends its warmest
congratulations to MISS PEARLA DEL MAR on being selected
Miss Hawaii Filipina for 1974 and continued success in
the State-wide .Miss Filipina pageant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk be
and is hereby directed to transmit certified copies of
this resolution to MISS PEARLA DEL MAR. and her parents
Mr. & Mrs. Jesus Del Mar.
