HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 224 Draft 01 1972-1976RESOLUTION NO o 4 iHEMAS, psychological, and sociological research has shown the importance of the family unit to the individual and, ultimately, to the health and well --being of the nations and .ERFAS , it is the respect for and continuation of healthy traditions that give deep meaning and rainbow --like beauty to Hawaii's cultural mixture; and WHEREAS, MSS, IRENE DOROTHY PERRFIRA AH SING, who was barn in Hilo, raised five children with love and affection, providing them spiritual and material means, and instilling in them pride of cultural heritage; and WHEREAS, MRS* AH SING, a member of the YMZ Ladies Auxiliary, Rosary Society, "Passarinho de Portugal" Folklore Troupe, Kaumana Kumiai and Kuamana--Piihonua Association, has consistently shown the universal instinct of motherly love by "always being there" to listen and provide comfort and encouragement whenever any of her children or a friend had a problem; and WHEREAS, IRS. AH SING 1 s likeable personality, kindness, and compassion have touched not only her immediate family, but the people in the community as well; and WHEREAS, MRS. AH SING, out of .several nominees, was named the first Portuguese Mother of the Year by the "Passarinho de Portugal" Folklore Trouper Hilo Branch, a truly deserving honor r NOW, THEREFORE r BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to MRS. IRENE DOROTHY PERREIRA AH SING its warmest congratulations and aloha for being named as Portuguese Mother of the Year. BE IT FURTHER :RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this Resolution to NRS. IRENE DOROTHY PERREIRA AH SING.
