WHEREAS, the creation and application of a sound
educational program during the early formative years of a
child's development will invariably mold the child's
character and control his behavior throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, there is a growing need for teachers with
creativity to develop new programs whish will provide the
individual child with the environment which will enable him
to develop positive self-concept and increase his thirst for
the pursuit of knowledge; and
WHEREAS, the selection of MRS. CHARLOTTE T. AKIYAMA,
special education teacher at Kapiolani School, as a candidate
for the Outstanding Elementary Teachers of America for 1974
is evidence of her outstanding leadership and ability in creating
innovative programs which are more meaningful and relevant
to the education of today's children,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate
MRS. AKIYAMA for her selection as a candidate for the Outstanding
Elementary Teachers of America for 1974 award.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to forward a copy of this
resolution as a token of the Council's appreciation for the
outstanding; services of MRS. AKIYAMA as a special education
teacher at Kapiolani School and to extend to her the Council's
best wishes for continued success,
