WHEREAS, the Sister City association between Hualien
County, Taiwan, and the County of Hawaii has been an active
and meaningful association already enriched by exchange
visitations of government officials, as well as private
citizens from both counties; and
WHEREAS, beginning June 5 through June 12, 1974, Hawaii
County will again be honored with dignitaries from our Sister
City of Hualien; and
WHEREAS, this delegation will be headed by Magistrate
and Mrs. Fu-Shou Huang, Council Chairman Ching -Feng Wang and
their Public Relations Officer Tony N. D. Pan; and
WHEREAS, these exchange visits are testimonies to the
enthusiasm, the spirit and the sincerity both cities regard
our sister city relationship; and
WHEREAS, our esteemed visitors have indicated that the
basic intent of this particular visit is to discuss and
hopefully set up purposeful cultural and economic exchanges
between our counties; and
WHEREAS, such exchanges would be mutually beneficial to
the people of both counties and would also strengthen the
bonds between our sister city ties by fostering meaningful
programs;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it supports and will help encourage and
initiate policies and programs that will promote cultural,
economic and social exchanges between the sister cities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be and is
hereby directed to send a true copy of this resolution to
Magistrate Fu -Show Huang as evidence of the County of Hawaii's
efforts and intentions in perpetuating a viable and everlasting
Sister City relationship between Hualien County and the
County of Hawaii.
