Resolution
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii Transit System has recently
established home -to -work commutation service for Kohala residents; and
WHEREAS, this service must pass over a certain segment of
State Highway, H27, West of and Adjacent to Spencer Park intersection;
WHEREAS, this segment is dangerously narrow resulting in
two reported incidents of near collision; and
WHEREAS., State Department of Transportation, Highways
Division, County of Hawaii has acknowledged this dangerous condition
but reportedly is unable to rectify it for fiscal reasons;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that the Governor of the State of Hawaii be urged to make
emergency funds available to expeditiously eliminate this serious
highway hazard. r,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be authorized
and directed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Governor
of the State of Hawaii and the State Department of Transportation.
