Resolution
WHEREAS, the Council of the County of Hawaii, by adopting
Ordinance No. 32 on April 17, 1974, decided that the fluoridation
of public water is in the best interest of the people of the
County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 32 provides for the fluoridation
of the public water supply of the Big Island; and
WHEREAS, a referendum petition relating to Ordinance No. 32
was submitted to the Clerk of the Council; said petition meeting
the requirements of Article XI, Hawaii County Charter, and
certified as to its sufficiency by the Clerk of the Council on
July 10, 1974; and
WHEREAS, Section 11-7(a) of the Hawaii County Charter
provides that where a referendum petition is concerned, the
ordinance to which that petition is directed shall be
reconsidered by the Council; and not later than thirty days
after the date on which the petition was determined sufficient,
the Council is mandated by resolution to repeal or sustain the
ordinance,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that Ordinance No. 32 be sustained.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the County Clerk, County of Hawaii.
