Resolution No. 262
WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii, upon the adoption of
its General Plan, is embarking on an implementation program
which includes Community Development Plans; and
WHEREAS, it is the intent of the County to develop
such plans for all communities and/or districts on the
Island of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to develop such a plan
for the South Kohala district, an area undergoing major
economic transformation with the growth of the coastal
port at Kawaihae and resort development plans along the
coast; and
WHEREAS, such a plan would be consistent with the
County's recently adopted Overall Program Design; and
WHEREAS, the County, in recognizing the pressing need
for such a study, agrees to contribute $25,000 in cash and
$3,000 in services -in-kind toward the total project cost;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that it does hereby request of the State Department of
Planning and Economic Development and the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development assistance in
funding the South Kohala Community Development Plan under
the auspices of "701" Planning Grants; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution
be forwarded to appropriate State and Federal agencies in
compliance with their requests.
