HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 276 Draft 01 1972-1976County of Hawaii= -State of Hawaii Resolution WHEREAS, Article XV of the County Charter, County of Hawaii, provides for procedures whereby the County Council may initiate, by ordinance, amendments to the Hawaii County Charter; and WHEREAS, Ordinances Numbered 56 , 57 , 58 , and 59 r each initiating a charter amendment, were adopt—e—cT—after EtEree readings on separate days and passed by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the entire membership, NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT COUNTY OF HAWAII that said electors of the County for election; and RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE ordinances be submitted to the approval at the coming general BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk publish the full text of the said ordinances in a daily newspaper of general circulation in the County at least forty-five (45) days prior to submission to the electors of the County. IF THIS ORDINANCE IS ADOPTED, THE SALARY OF COUNCILMEN SHALL BE ESTABLISHED BY A SALARY COMMISSION WHICH SHALL CONSIST OF NINE MEMBERS APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR WITHOUT THE APPROVAL OF THE COUNCIL. IF THIS ORDINANCE IS ADOPTED A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF MAYOR SHALL BE FILLED BY THE MANAGING DIRECTOR, OR IF THE OFFICE OF MANAGING DIRECTOR IS VACANT, BY THE FINANCE DIRECTOR; A VACANCY x IN THE COUNTY COUNCIL SHALL BE FILLED BY A PERSON APPOINTED BY THE REMAINING MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL, OR IF THEY FAIL TO ACT, A PERSON APPOINTED BY THE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN; A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF PROSECUTING ATTORNEY SHALL BE FILLED BY THE FIRST DEPUTY, OR IF THE POSITION OF FIRST DEPUTY IS VACANT, A PERSON APPOINTED BY THE MAYOR WITH THE APPROVAL OF COUNCIL.
