Araujo, Sr., a veteran of 19 1/2 years on the Hawaii County Police Department, was recognized as the recipient of this ;-P'.7.:�.rd in the non -super- visory category ai,,i-.,. WHEPXAS, Officer Araujo was nominated for his efficiency in carrying out his assignments as well as being one of the outstanding officers in the department,: and VMEREAS, he was actively involved in teaching, coordinating and supervising the 26th Recruit Training Class, where he gained the respect of his students as well as veteran officers in the department; and w-HERrAS his biggest assignment has been the portrayal of "Officer Bill" to the youngsters in both private and public schools where he has instilled a better image of the police officer as a true friend and helper; and TIMEREAS,, through his efforts, Off. icer Araujo has effectively comanunicated to these youngsters the meaning of friendship, honesty, respect for parents and friends, society, and their teachers; and WHEREAS, Officer Araujo has also made presentations on his own time to various organizations on subjects related to police work, bicycle safety and safety in general; and T ,.1REPMS, as a result of his outstanding service to the department, Officer Araujo was awarded the 1974 Distinguished Service Award by the Board of Underwriters of Hawaii and the General Insurance Assoc i'-'.t--1.ons of Maui,, Kauai and Hawaii,, rP T U.
