RESOLUTION NO. 30 19
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF MONETARY
DONATIONS TOTALING $170,355 FOR DISASTER RELIEF FROM
THE 2018 LAVA FLOW
WHEREAS, the followingdonated funds to the Countyfor disaster relief from
the 2018 lava flow:

• Puna Geothermal Venture $150,000.00
• Tokyoto Oshimamachi 18,274.22
• Saishoin Temple 2,000.00
• Sister City Mayor Inoue 80.44
$170,354.66
WHEREAS, these funds will be used for disaster relief from the 2018 lava flow
in Puna; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal
Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Finance Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii
shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor and the Finance
Department.
