RESOLUTTON 140.
WHEIREAS,r CHARLES IUMOHANO, a Honokaa police officer,
was selected the first place winner for the Outstanding
Young Law Officer award presented by the Hawaii Jaycees; and
WHEREAS., CHARLES HANOHANO, a graduate of Kailua High
School and Boise State College, was recognized for his
outstanding work in the Hawaii County Police Department and
his deep involvement in community affairs; and
WHER&A-S,, he has taken active roles in the Honokaa PISA,
Hamakua Lions Club, Hamakua Jaycees, Hamakua. Young Farmers
Association, Hamakua Pop Warner bantam team,, Honokaa. High
School football team and SHOPO; and
WHEREAS, CHARLES H1 401HANO has given freely of his
time beyond normal duty hours to contribute significantly
towards the improvement of relationships between the youth
of his cox unity and the police department- and
T�EREAS., CHARLES HANOHANO.. a football coach in Honokaa,
developed tremendous rapport with youngsters and availed
himself for counsel to foster open discussions on problems
they might have; and
WHEREAS, to keep himself abreast of police work, he
has enrolled in courses of police photography, crisis
intervention and other related fields; and

WHEREAS, the County of Hawaii can well be thankful
for such a dedicated and conscientious individual as
CHARLES HANOHANOt
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it takes this means to ct4ngratulate
CHARLES HANOHANO upon being selected the Outstanding Young
Law officer for 1974.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County
of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a copy of
this resolution to CHARLES HANOHANO and the Hamakua Jaycees.
