HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 315 Draft 01 1972-197610 F RESOLUTION NO. �3 WHEREAS., SHARON HIRATA, an English instructor at Hilo High School, was selected the Outstanding Young Educator in the State by the Hawaii Jaycees; and WHEREAS, her selection was based on her teaching qualifica- tions, classroom management techniques, and contributions to the profession, community, State and nation; and WHEREAS,, SHARON HIRATA is a rare and sincere individual who constantly makes efforts to motivate students to higher levels and seeks out ways to do something extra for them; and WHEREAS, in her first year of teaching, she undertook the chairmanship of the English Department for the sophomore class and received high praise from the Administration and DOE for her work; and WHEREAS,, to develop a free flow of communication,, SHARON HIRATA has taken her students outside the classroom setting on overnite trips and to games; she has used a guitar as an "ice breaker" with otherwise taciturn students- she has gone golfing with them; she has invited students to her home- and she has made an attempt to know the student beyond his presence in the classroom, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CC UINCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that this body extends its warmest congratulations to SHARON HIRATA on being selected Outstanding Young Educator in the State of Hawaii and commends the services of an outstanding educator. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to SHARON HIRATA and the Lehua Jaycees, Dated at Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, this 4th day of December, 1974.
