WHEREAS, COUNCILMA14 JOHN FARIAS,, JR. has been appointed
Chairman of the Board of Agriculture and a cabinet member of
the Governor of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, JOHN FARIAS.. JR.,, born,, reared and educated in
Hawaii, has risen to high governmental positions; he was
elected to the Hawaii County Council in 1972, he served as a
member and chairman of the Board of Regents at the University
of Hawaii, and he was the former Director of the County Research
and Development Department; and
WHEREAS, on the Hawaii County Council, JOHN 'ARIAS, JR.
chaired the Planning, Research, Development and Legislative
Committee and the Charter Review Committee to productive goals;
and
WHEREAS, as an elected official Jt 1-M FARIAS, JR., always
responded to the needs of the public and relied on a good
sense of judgement to make firm decisions on all matters; and
WHEIREAS, the appointment of JOHN FARIASr JR. will complement
and strengthen the administrative branch of our government
as he takes with him a wealth of knowledge and imaginative
thinking that will benefit all the peoples of our State,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate
JOHN FARIASr JR. on his appointment to this high government
post and to wish him continued success in all his future
endeavors,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of
