Resolution No. 325
WHEREAS, motorcycling has grown tremendously as a
spectator as well as a participator sport throughout the
international, national, state-wide and county -wide scene;
and
WHEREAS, the advancement of this recreational activity
on the County of Hawaii has been nutured to its best interest
by the Big Island Motorcycle Association, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, after much research and hard work this organiza-
tion with the assistance from the State Board of Land and
Natural Resources have located a suitable site in trail
riding and off-road motorcycling situated along the Mauna
Kea side of the Saddle Road known as Training Area 6 and
further described as Tract A-105, Kaohe III, Section B,
Hamakua, Hawaii, and containing approximately 201 acres;
and
WHEREAS, this property is presently under the jurisdic-
tion of the Federal Government as part of the Pohakuloa
Training Complex via the Governor of the State of Hawaii,
Executive Order Number 1398, General Lease Number S-3849;
and
WHEREAS, the Big Island Motorcycle Association, Inc.
would like to utilize this area on weekends and holidays
or any such time as not to be in conflict with military
activities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it endorses the request of RIMA, Inc.,
and recommends that the U. S. Government and the State of
Hawaii give favorable consideration to this proposal.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this resolution
be sent to Major General Donnelly Bolton, Commanding General,
U. S. Army Support Command and Mr. Christopher Cobb, Chairman
of the State of Hawaii Board of Land and Natural Resources.
