We lost our home but not all of our land,we have approximately 1 acre remaining. We have fruit trees, garden areas and a large greenhouse remaining. We were just starting to grow organic produce to sell when the lava came. We did have some insurance but not enough to start completely over in a new location,we are retired and it's daunting to think of starting over,as well.We are fully aware that lava could return,so building something small and portable is a priority.Utilizing solar power(which we were before)and water catchment allows for returning sooner rather than later. We really want to return to our property to live again.Regarding rebuilding lower Puna,we need road access first. For us,it means opening 4 Corners and possibly Highway 137.We possibly could gain access off Lighthouse Rd.if we can secure an easement to our property. But,If we can get 137 reopened, there are other Kapoho residents who want to return and we can work together getting some of our old streets reopened. Also,it seems that reopening Highway 132 might be the easiest way to get people off of Government Rd.through Wa'a Wa'a. Please help us return home.Mahalo. Stan and Debra Smith • • Comm. No '2-1 Ref. To: ri 2 WOG Ref. Date JAN 0 7 2019
