Aloha,
We have now been waiting for what seems like forever for the short portion of Hwy 132 to be
made accessible for us to reach our farm just off the Hwy between mile marker 6 and 7. We
have been hiking in fuel, chain saws and weed eaters on a weekly basis to try and maintain our
property. Our daughters house as well as our avocado orchard was covered in the last few days
of the eruption. Although our loss was devastating to our family property we are becoming
quite frustrated the even a temporary road has not been started. We have been patient but have
only heard rumors that this might happen. We just want access so we can bring our tractor and
other equipment in to help maintain our land before the elephant grass and other evasive
species take over completely. So many of our neighbors were affected and many lost
everything. I was even inquiring if we could all contribute to cutting a temporary road in just
for access. A Go Fund Me or something along those lines. We all realize it will be quite a
while before the infrastructure is set again but in the mean time having access to our properties
is essential to our livelihood.
Any access..With the loss of tax dollars the county is missing out on I am surprised that
nothing has happened yet. Please let's do the right thing and open up these roads as soon as
possible and let the people who make their living ,raised their families and contribute to the
county and state have access to our lands.
Thank You
