Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 35, reports as follows:
Communication No. 35, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 19, 2018, nominates
Dr. Harold Dwight Dow, Jr. for reappointment to the Salary Commission.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Dr. Harold Dwight Dow, Jr.
who appeared in person.
Council Members and Chair David commented in favor of the reappointment. Chair David
stated that Dr. Dow did not need to appear at the next Council meeting for confirmation of his
reappointment.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-28, Hawai`i County Code, there is established a Salary
Commission, which shall consist of nine members, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the
Council.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication No. 35,
and recommends confirmation of the reappointment of Dr. Harold Dwight Dow, Jr. to the Salary
Commission.
