REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE, WATER, ENERGY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT DATE: January 8, 2019 Re: Communication No. 37 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawaii TIME: 9:52 a.m. Council Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management, to which was referred Communication 37, reports as follows: Communication No. 37, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 19, 2018, nominates Abraham Antonio of Council District 5 to the County of Hawaii Game Management Advisory Commission. Motion to approve nomination of Abraham Antonio was made by Council Member Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder; 2nd by Council Member Lee Loy. As introduced by Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant for the County of Hawaii, Mr. Antonio is a lifelong resident of Hawaii who is an active hunter that has strong interest in the management and protection of game resources. Mr. Antonio is a heavy equipment operator supervisor on island and contributes to his community by mentoring youth in sports and foster care programs. Mr. Antonio is not affiliated with any political party, and if confirmed he will fill a term ending on December 31, 2023. Nominee Antonio was present and thanked the Committee for the opportunity, as well as thanked both Tom Lodge and Nani Pogline,, long time members of the County of Hawaii Game Management Advisory Commission, for their kind words during public testimony. Committee Vice Chair Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder noted that he represented the district where nominee resides and thanked nominee Antonio for stepping up to assist; encouraging him to reach out at any time. Committee Chair Richards thanked the nominee for his ability to serve and was assured by nominee Antonio that he supported the shooting range resolution that was passed previously.
