SUBJECT: Report of Attendance at the Waimea Community Association meeting
In accordance with HRS §92.2.5(e), I report my attendance along with that of Council Chair
Aaron Chung, and Council Member Valerie Poindexter at the Waimea Community Association's
(WCA) standing monthly community meeting,held at the Waimea Elementary School cafeteria
on January 3, 2019.
Amongst other WCA housekeeping matters,those attending the meeting were asked to listen to
presentations by the two (2)airline carriers who are currently being considered for the Essential
Air Service at the Waimea-Kohala Airport and provide some input.
Our attendance at this community meeting provided updates regarding Council priorities,
disaster recovery, and the Waimea-Kohala Airport carrier proposals to the Federal Department of
Transportation, as well as provided an opportunity for the general public to engage with the
legislative delegation present.
HRS §92.2.5(e) states that two or more members of a board, but less than a quorum,may attend
an informational meeting or presentation on matters relating to office board duties, including a
community meeting,provided that the meeting or presentation is not specifically and exclusively
organized for or directed toward members of the board, and that the board members shall report
their attendance and the matters presented and discussed that related to official board business.
