Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Robert M Yamada II to the Fire Commission.
Mr. Yamada has worked within the construction industry at management-level positions
for decades and is a licensed contractor. He also served in the United States Army
Reserve with multiple deployments to Pohakuloa Training Area, O'ahu and Pacific Rim
nations.
Possessing a lengthy list of community service, Mr. Yamada was president of the
Hawai'i Island Contractors Association. He is also a member of Keaukaha Panaewa
Farmers Association, Hui Malama Ola Na `Oiwi, Hilo Little League, and various other
organizations.
Mr. Yamada indicates that he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he
may serve a term that expires December 31, 2022.
